Sometimes in the morning
When I wake up from a dreaming sleep
And I see the towers of Eden
From my window on some unknown street
And I might wake you up too early
Just to hear you say
That you still care, and you’re still there
And that you feel that I’m alive
“Til morning starts at 5 PM
And there I’ll go again
Two shows a night and one on Sunday
Johnny’s quit the band
Says he’d rather be home with Elaine
And ev’ry time I see two people
Walking hand in hand
I tell myself I’ll never
Leave again
Ah but sometimes in the morning
When I wake up from a dreaming sleep
And I hear the sounds of children
Honey, tell the kids dad’s trying to sleep
But hotel walls and motel pillows
Never seem to hear
And you’re so many miles away
Why not come down some night
And stay – an hour
‘Til morning starts at 5 PM
And there I’ll go again.
Two shows a night and one on Sunday
Johnny’s quit the band
Says he’d rather be home with Elaine
And ev’ry time I see two people
Walking hand in hand
I tell myself I’ll never
Leave again
